Brown Contact Lenses- how to care for them

Brown Contact Lenses

It doesn’t matter what type of brown contact lenses you have, ColorVue, FreshLook , DuraSoft or any of the others .There are just a couple of simple rules to follow and a few simple tools.

You will need -

1. A good contact lens solution, this is critical as the colored contact lenses must be kept clean and free from bacteria, do NOT use plain water. You should use a ‘no rub” contact lens cleaning solution, some solutions require you to rub the lenses between your palms to clean them, with brown contact lenses this rubbing may scratch the color coating on the lens, so remember a ‘rub solution’ and one that is suitable for soft contact lenses. If you have sensitive eyes then we recommend you get a cleaning solution that’s suitable. If you have contacts that are designed to last for a year you will also need a protein removal solution, which helps to remove protein build up that can occur on the lenses over time. Using this type of cleaner once a month will ensure that your brown contact lenses maintain there true colors, for their expected life. If you have disposable colored contacts like FreshLook, then soaking in a general ‘no rub’ cleaning solution is good enough.

2. A case to place your contacts when you are not wearing them. This should have a left and a right chamber so you can keep each contact lens seperately . Having a container with a screw down lids is a good idea as this stops the solution from spilling when you are carrying your colored contacts around. When the contacts are soaking in the cleaning solution the lid should be on to avoid any contamination. Keeping them in an airtight environment is the aim. We also recommend that you wash your contacts case every week with soap then rinse well and leave briefly to dry.

2. Lastly a pair of soft plastic tweezers.
