Does it matter what color my eyes are?

If the cosmetic contact lenses are solid colors and not tints then no, it does not matter what color your eyes are.

If I wear brown contact lenses will everything appear brown?

Your vision should remain the same as without colored contacts. The center of the contact lens and the part that covers the pupil is clear.

Can I swim with colored contacts in?

It is best to remove your colored contact lenses before swimming as their may be bacteria in that water that could get behind the contacts and cause infection.

Can I sleep with colored contacts in?

Definitely you should not sleep with your brown contact lenses in place. It is recommended that you only wear the contact for a maximum of 8 hours at a time.

How long will my brown contact lenses last?

This will depend from brand to brand. Some brands claim their products will last up to 12 months, but on average 3 months is the expected lifetime.

Do I need a prescription?

Even if you do not wear contacts or glasses to improve your eyesight you will still need to get your eyes tested at an optician and receive a prescription. The reason for this is that colored contact lenses come in a variety of different sizes, usually called the diameter of the base curve.
It is important that an eye doctor check and measure your eyes so that you know what size contacts to buy. One other reason to visit an optician at least once is that they can best show you how to put the colored contacts in.
